Common questions
Frequently asked
- How often should I see the dentist?
- For most patients, every six months for a cleaning and exam. If you have gum disease, are a smoker, are pregnant, or have a history of frequent cavities, your dentist may recommend three or four month intervals to keep things stable.
- What does general dentistry include?
- It covers the routine care that keeps your mouth healthy: cleanings, exams, X-rays, oral cancer screening, tooth-colored fillings, sealants, gum (periodontal) care, and dentistry for kids and teens, all under one roof on Thomson Drive.
- Do you see children?
- Yes. We see kids and adults in the same practice, so your child can have their first visit while you are in for your six-month cleaning. We keep the pace gentle and explain everything as we go.
- What should I expect at my first visit?
- Plan on about an hour. We review your health history, take any needed X-rays, complete a full exam and cleaning, screen for oral cancer, and walk you through anything we find on the chairside monitor before you leave.
- Do you accept dental insurance?
- We accept most major dental insurance, including Delta Dental Premier, Cigna, and United Concordia. If you do not have insurance, our Virginia Dental Club membership covers cleanings, exams, and X-rays for one flat annual fee.
