When most or all of an arch is gone
Losing most or all of the teeth in an arch changes how you eat, how you speak, and how often you're willing to smile in photos. Traditional dentures answer part of the problem and create new ones: slipping, adhesives, sore spots, and the slow loss of jawbone underneath. Full-arch implants answer it differently. Four to six titanium implants become permanent anchors, and a custom bridge of 10 to 14 teeth attaches to them. It doesn't come out at night. It doesn't move when you bite an apple.

You may have seen ads promising a full set of teeth in a single day. We take a different, deliberate path, and we want you to understand why. When an implant is placed, the bone around it needs months to grow into its surface and lock it in place. Loading a full bridge onto implants the same day asks brand-new implants to carry full chewing forces during that critical window. It can work. It can also compromise the very foundation everything depends on.
Our approach: place the implants with guided precision from your CBCT scan, protect them while the bone integrates fully, then deliver a final bridge built onto a healed, load-ready foundation. You are never left without teeth during healing, and the finish line is a restoration engineered to last decades. It's the same reasoning behind every choice in our implant program: the version of this treatment we'd want for our own families.
Who's a good candidate?
- You've lost most or all of your teeth in an arch, or you're close to it.
- You wear a denture you can't tolerate: slipping, sore spots, food restrictions, or a plate covering the roof of your mouth.
- You want a permanent solution, not something you take out at night.
- Your remaining teeth aren't worth restoring individually: heavily decayed, periodontally compromised, or already failing.
- You have workable bone. Even without ideal volume, angled placement uses the densest bone available, and grafting can rebuild the rest.
The journey, stage by stage
- 1. CBCT scan and evaluation. Dr. Kim or Dr. Azevedo maps your bone in 3D, reviews your health history, and tells you honestly whether a full arch is right, and what it costs. See how the 3D scan works.
- 2. Planning. Implant positions, angles, and depths are chosen on the scan before surgery day. Nothing is discovered mid-procedure.
- 3. Placement. The implants are placed in one guided surgical visit under local anesthetic, with sedation options for comfort. Any failing teeth are removed at the same visit.
- 4. Protected healing. Over the following months the bone integrates. You wear a protective temporary shaped for the healing phase; we monitor progress with short check-ins.
- 5. The final bridge. Your permanent arch is crafted, tried in, adjusted, and fixed in place by the same doctor who placed your implants.
Full arch or implant-supported denture?
A fixed full-arch bridge is the premium option: it stays in permanently and feels closest to natural teeth. An implant-supported denture snaps onto two to four implants, comes out for cleaning, and costs meaningfully less while still ending the slipping and the adhesive. - Full-arch implants replace an entire upper or lower arch of teeth using four to six strategically placed implants. A custom bridge of 10 to 14 teeth is anchored onto those implants, giving you a fixed, non-removable set of teeth that look and function like the real thing.
- Why don't you promise teeth in a day?
- Because our protocol puts longevity first. We place the implants, let the bone integrate undisturbed for several months, and then deliver your final restoration onto a fully healed foundation. Heavily advertised same-day approaches load teeth onto implants immediately, which can work, but it asks freshly placed implants to carry chewing forces before the bone has locked them in. We'd rather your arch last decades than debut a day early.
- What do I wear while the implants heal?
- You won't go without teeth. Depending on your case, we provide a temporary removable option shaped to protect the surgical sites while the implants integrate. Your doctor will walk you through exactly what the healing months look like before anything is scheduled.
- Who evaluates full-arch cases here?
- Dr. Kim and Dr. Azevedo evaluate every full-arch case personally and accept select full-arch cases right here in Lynchburg. Evaluation starts with a CBCT scan and an honest conversation about anatomy, health history, budget, and timeline.
- How is this different from dentures?
- A full-arch bridge is fixed in place; you don't take it out. No adhesives, no slipping when you talk or eat, no plate covering the roof of your mouth. Bite force is dramatically better than a denture, and because implants stimulate the jawbone, they slow the bone loss that gives long-time denture wearers a sunken look.
